It's finally straight!!! The filler work is done. Doug watched me spend 2 hours picking and filing the right rear corner today. 2 hours for a 10" X 10" spot.....
Tomorrow I'll finish the metal prep and get the roof sanded. Monday evening we're taping and prepping and Tuesday is primer!
I'll post pics of the bus when it's one colour again.
I'm very glad to be done this stage.

Don't wait until it is in color to take pics! I'm sure most of us would love to see the primer stage, I know I would!

I will Greg. I meant primer grey as the colour. ;D I have some pics of the DC in all stages and I'll post them up when I have time. Chris

So that's what those big ass holes in the back of a bus are for. I thought they looked awful big for taillights. ;D Nice work, I can't wait to start working on my '59 DC. I'll have to find an alternative for the rear corner work though, my arms just won't fit through my taillight holes Perhaps I should change them up to your style

Boy Chris, you really do "get into" your work don't you? ;D Looks killer though. I can't wait for either of my VW's to get to that stage someday......

That's a good sign, I see masking!

That's a good sign, I see masking! I have to thank DP for that! He spent a solid 2 hours on the creeper taping and masking the edges. We had to double mask everything so the undercarriage stays clean. I decided to hold off on primer until Friday. I wanted to go over all the steel one more time and make sure it's prepped really well. I'm being very picky about this and, after all the work getting it to this point, I'm sure it will pay off. One of our local club members(Brendan) is coming over to help prime it. It will be nice to have two guns to get it done. The cab floors are blocked and ready to shoot again and the body is just about there. I just have to finish cleaning out the seams and drip rails. I'm using a copper wheel on the grinder and then 100 grit to finish. We'll use 3M pads and degreaser just before primer to make sure it's clean, then etch prime, and then high build. I'll leave the body over the weekend and finish the doors etc. Looks like I'm just about ready. Wish me luck. Chris

Well, it was close to 2 hours under the Bus...and I had a good time doing it. I had help though, that much of a skirt is a job for more than one man. I'm sure there are some pics of my big bald melon sticking out from the underside of the bus on your camera Chris, I did see some flashes going off when I was down there. Here's wishing you good luck with the spray job. I'll probably miss all the fun...but I'll phone. - DP

Congrats Chris!! It's great to see it all in one color again. I took the time today to go through the photos of the metal work on www.commercial-air.com It's amazing to see how far it's come...my favourite was the rebuild of the dog-leg inner and outer sections....the photos don't do it justice... there is a TON of work in there to make the KLOKKERHOLM panels fit and look correct. Beers to you Chris... You're one step closer to the rest... - DP

Looks like a few more weeks of hard work and it will be ready for paint. I'm still hoping to have it back in the shop for the end of February so I can start reassembly.
I went through the progress pics again this morning. I can't believe how much metal I replaced. It's been such a long project that it's easy to forget all the steps involved.
I have to get the cargo bed straightened out and there's two side gates left to put in the press, but it's really close! One more shipment to the chrome shop too. Actually, the list is endless.
