Can a 6V fuel guage be modified to work on a 12V system?

I'm pretty new to the whole 6V to 12V conversion but from what I've read looking to add a working setup to my '58 the guage itself will work either way (might have to change the bulb) it's the sender you need to worry about.

It will work fine! The sender signal is variable resistance on the ground side of the gauge. Like Shane said change the bulb. HTH Richard

How about a 12v sender and 6v fuel gauge?
