I recently purchased a local bus that was originally owned by no other than Ken King. I bought it from the latest owner, Brett. I decided I was ready to restore it and would like to share my project you guys. Just so you know, I'm not as detailed as I should be when it comes to restoring aircooleds, but I do like a clean ride!!! This is my bus as I bought it... It was a soild bus to start with. I unfortunately didnot take any photo's from when I stripped it , till first coat of primer stage. I decided to sub-out the bodywork to a friend of a friend...and ended up getting burned. He did nothing to it and charged me for it. oh well I had to take it from there, and put my bodywork skills back into action ;D Here is keith & I dropping it off @ my Shop to continue to bodywork... Thanks Keith!! Most of the bus is in the first coat of primer to start blocking.. here are the parts being blocked almost ready for 2 coat of primer.... MORE TO COME!!!

I hope Keith & Ken don't kick my A$$, But I chose my own color for the bus.. as you can see in these next photos, it mango , but with a portuguese twist ... Trust me ,It looks awesome!!! @ this stage, I'm starting to hang the parts back on the bus after painting the jambs.... Here I am Spraying the parts in the booth... I look like Rico in that Pic ;D After painting the inners and jambs, I installed the hatch and engine lid .. @ that point I decided I was going to re-do both rockers I wasn't quiet happy with them...... That's all Folks...I'll update soon....

Joe will have alot less Corona in his system and minus one drunken Rico when he goes to assemble it. I'm sure he won't forget something as obvious as that. (Inside story: I forgot to tighten my NUTS on one wheel before taking my bus on maiden voyage...I stopped when I had lost all but one lug)

I remember that! Rico and I are directing traffic around you on 52nd street in the dark. The commuting public rubbernecking wondering WTF was up with 3 split buses parked in the middle of 52nd street.

Good times eh Keith? ;D Then Rico and I start backpeddling up 52nd to try and find some lugs and I end up finding a crack pipe instead. Joe I'm loving this bus, but man that rear hatch is HUGE!
