I need a little advice here. I found a pair of re-built 40mm dellortos, with intakes & a Berg linkage that I'm thinking of purchasing. The carbs are re-built. The only things missing are the air cleaner assemblies. He wants $400 us, that includes the shipping. Is this worth the cost?

As long as the throttle shaft bushings are in good shape it sounds like a pretty good price. The linkage is worth about $150.00 US. Does it come with manifolds? There are some for sale in Lethbridge for $350.00 CND without linkage, manifolds, or cleaners. Very nice choice of carbs.

Well the carbs are in L.A. They look vey clean from the pictures. Comes with the manifolds as well as the Berg Linkgage. Judging from the Lethbridge carbs, & some others I looked at, I think I might end up with these.
They won't be overkill for an 1835 will they? I'm planning for a larger power plant down the road as well.

Dells are very tunable. You can contact Bruce Tweddle in Vancouver if you need help on setting them up. He rebuilds dells and webers.

So those Dells on CVD only require linkage? What else would one need to hook those up to a 1600 DP?

So those Dells on CVD only require linkage? What else would one need to hook those up to a 1600 DP? $350 is a bit much for those considering they have nothing else with them. You would still need the manifolds too. If you are staying 1600, I would buy a set of Kadrons.

So those Dells on CVD only require linkage? What else would one need to hook those up to a 1600 DP? The dells on CVD come with nothing other than the carbs. No manifolds, air cleaners or linkage. That's why I didn't go with those ones. I second the Kadrons for a 1600. Or 34 Webber ICT's. I'm running the webbers on my 1600, I really like them. The only thing I would recomend with the webbers is to get the cross bar pre-load springs, made a huge difference with mine. I'm waiting to hear back from the guy with the Dells, I want these carbs. Anyone know what modifications would have to be made to seal them up for a blow-through turbo? Just an eventual pipe dream I have....... Greg

With Steve I would be careful that they were a matched set too. I think he bought those a few years ago for his TIV conversion and could never get them to run. Just a heads up. Just bare carbs not worth the $350. I bought 45's for $275 c/w crappy air cleaners and manifolds plus a box of spare jets and parts. Dells have two 607-2z bearings where most carbs have bushings on the butterflys

They arrived in the mail today!! They are supposed to be rebuilt, but past experiance with "rebuilt" tells me I will be going through these myself to make sure. I LOVE the Gene Berg linkage, that has to be one of the best linkages I have ever seen. I can't wait to set these up on the 1835! Just need my airfilters to arrive, then some velocity stacks. -Greg
