Everyone wants to/tries to Pimp Their Bus...
There are very FEW examples of beautiful "original" (or close to original) VW's left out there... You'll notice that they get all the attention at the VW shows.
Chris's '56 KOMBI is a great example of a non-restored original bus...

Custom rims only work (as far as I'm concerned) on lowered buses. They don't always "work" there either. I am partial to stock rims anyhow, but my vote is that you stay with stock rims, shiny hubcaps with the VW emblem painted black and beauty rings for your bus. Oh, and blackwall tires!

I have to agree. Custom or aftermarket rims have to be put on the "right" bus and I think lowering and custom rims go together. I'm a big fan of stock rims and caps on any bus, 4X4 or low.
And for the true purist: No black painted VW logo on your '64 hubcaps!!! One year only.... to apparently save paint???

The subject of which hubcaps got black VW emblems has been debated at length and I don't know as there is a consensus on it. I was under the impression that 57 and earlier Karmann Ghia's were the only hubcaps to get the black painted emblem.
I like the contrast, so all my hubcaps have them ;D

I'm as far from a purest as Keith is from owning a water pumper and I have to agree. Aftermarket wheels only look good on lowered buses. Stockers work well on any height bus really. I'm not a big fan of the crow's feet, so I roll currently stock height on wide 5 chromies with smooth caps. It's clean and stockish looking. I'll probably keep them once it's lowered as well. Don't let ol' DP sway you, don't be afraid to tastefully pimp your bus to your taste. Your NUTS Pimp, Paul

Umm, while the offer still stands...I just remembered that the rings I have are 15" Beetle rings... if you're running 14" bus rims then these won't help...sorry if I got your hopes up.
If you have 15"s... I'll post some pics.
