Hey Guys I had (had being the key word) the rear engine tin for my engine and I have turned the garage upside down looking for it. It is the piece that bolts to the block behind the pulley. If anyone has a spare one of those from a 1600, I would surely appreciate the opportunity to become it's new owner.
Let me know - thanks

Did you ever find a rear engine tin? I was digging in the attic last night & found a couple, but I am not sure what they fit. Can you get me a picture of the one you need for me to compare? If I have one that works it is yours.

Thanks for the offer Greg ;D I ordered one from from CIP after a couple days of no replies, because it would hold up my engine build. I got an aftermarket one from CIP and had to do some minor mods on it to make it fit properly anyhow. When I build the 1776, I may take you up on the offer though.

They aren't going anywhere Keith, so I'll set one aside for you!
How is that engine tin from CIP anyway? I was looking at their complete set. Figured it would be easier and maybe cheaper than blasting all of mine, powder coating or painting it.

Any of the after market pieces I have bought are only half assed fit and the paint looks fine but comes off in the blast cabinet pretty easy. Original tin may be a pain to clean up, but at least it fits. And whatever they used for paint back then is tough stuff. On a side note the puma doghouse that I got from CB Performance is a very nice piece with all the OE vanes inside. The rear tin is an empi piece from C1 and we had to move a couple holes and re-shape a couple edges to get it to fit. Not too bad overall. DP bought the complete set for his maybe he will chime in on how his worked out.

I can't comment on the whole kits. The rear piece I got had to be snipped and shaped in strategic places to fit properly, but I put that down to the fact that I have an aftermaket block. The EMPI doghouse cover and exhaust port are actually superior to OG. Ken and I discovered this while modifying the doghouse shrouds to accept a Type 4 oil cooler. The coating is powder coat I think as it is almost impossible to bead blast off and the fit is a dead ringer for OG.

I actually only bought the "cylinder cover" pieces from CIP...and my 36HP style fan shroud from Concept-1.
I didn't have any problem fitting them (other than they seem wider than stock at the top... What I mean is that once I placed the fan shroud in place there were some spaces...not an OE fit...but it still worked fine. The only other issue was that the paint on each piece of tin was a different shade of flat black. But it was Cheap...and straighter than anything I had sitting around.
