I was installing a new brake pedal return spring on the Mango last night and I broke the snap ring that holds the brake pedal swing lever on the chassis. Anybody know where I can get one of these animals? Old school hardware stores and FLAPS with bins of these kinds of things are now extinct in Calgary. Any leads?? Thanks

Calgary Fastener? Bolt Supply? Canadian Tire? NAPA?
Or better yet, C1 before Ken leaves tomorrow.
I've had great luck finding odd fasteners at Canadian Tire. Pretty good selection of metric stuff. I actually picked up new snap rings and 7mm cap nuts for my transmission there.
I can always pull one from a parts bus here for you Keith. Just let me know.

...or in a pinch... The VW Dealer original parts are often still available...and while they are ALWAYS over-priced...they can save your day. ...and then you can brag about your restoration using OEM parts. - DP

Thanks for the tip DP I actually got two NOS keys for my 64 Beetle from Northland VW a couple years ago. On a whim, I went in to ask them to match up the key. A young parts guy snorted when I told him the year. An older guy in the back heard me and yelled up 'Take a look". The young guy wandered off to pull his pud and the older guy got busy on the parts computer. After a while, he allowed as to how there were two in Toronto that I could have for $12 each. I happily paid the $24 Young Jesse still has one of those that would not fit his 62, I should get that back I guess.
