Not going to be able to complete this project due to finacial constraints, (more kids!) so it is up for sale. I have not had the time to complete all the repairs that I had planned, so this is the perfect project for someone to take on. With a minimal amount of work this Baja can be ready for summer! I was touring around my neighborhood last summer with it, very fun to drive! 1967 VW Baja bug. (Wide Eye) Convertible (chopped) Body/pan was reinforced by PO. Good paint. Rear of pan 1/2's rusty. Strong 1500cc S/P engine, starts & runs great! Good Baja exhaust. Brake shoes more than 65% all around. Almost all of the electrical is repaired & working now. The bad: Pan rust. Main brake line rotted out due to rusting pan. Tires have lots of tread but are starting to dry rot. Canvas top is rotting (still would make a good template to fab another one) Clutch chatters. The pictures are from summer before I started working on it. I have a few more pictures that I can e-mail to anyone who is interested. This was everything I can think of at the moment, but feel free to ask any questions. Greg

Not going to be able to complete this project .... (more kids!) You pregnant?? As much as a marvel of science that would be..... no, I'm not pregnant. But my wife is again ;D Need to turn our spare room into a baby room & all that fun stuff. P.S. Still working on that hinge for you Keith. Trying not to damage the hinge or the door taking it off though.

Very Cool! A dozen dancing bananas for you and mama! Kids rock! (They are expensive little brutes though) I have managed to free up one hinge on Daisy's door that I thought I would have to pull. I don't know what to do with the other. i got the hinge pusher from Joey, but the alignment of it was a little off. I sent it back to him and he promptly sent me a new one (Poor guy was embarassed that it didn't work quite right). Got the new one a couple days ago, and although the alignment is good on this one, it still won't push the pin out. I can't fault the tool, it actually pushed on the pin so hard that there was an impression of the hardened pushing pin left in the hinge pin. The hinge pin still didn't budge! That tool is capable of generating many thousands of pounds per square inch of pressure and still that pin would not budge!

Have you tried a bit of heat and perhaps a liberal application of a brand name lubricating oil? I know you are trying to preserve the OG paint, so you may want to try a high output heat gun instead of "teddy torch"

I have been dosing it for weeks with two different brands of liquid wrench and it hasn't helped. I think you're right, serious heat is likely my only option remaining.

Long weekend special: $1500.00 I wasn't able to get right under to take pictures, so I pulled back some carpet & took a few of the inside. The rockers & pans are worse than I thought, so I'm open to offers. I also took a little video of it running if anyone wants to see it. Runs really good, but has a little stutter coming back to an idle. www.youtube.com/watch?v=aTzubEm6IVoI will also try to take some pictures of any specific areas if anyone wants. Greg
