Well, it is my first air cooled. I originally just wanted Somthing with safaris and lucked out finding this. I've had it for about 8yrs just sitting. I think it's pretty rough but I have had chris come look at it before. He thought it was pretty good. I would like to restore it and either lower it or air-ride on it. Nothing over the top. It's missing lots of pieces so it will be a learning curve for me. I origanaly had big plans when I bought it but reality set in on real world costs and delayed me a few years. Will be a full blown rebuild by the time I'm done. Need advice on what kinda transaxle I should go with though(still lots of researching to do)

You know, it looks pretty solid for the most part. I have never had a lowered bus, so I can't comment on things like best set up, ride, etc., but since these things can be easily added later and even over a weekend with bolt-on stuff, I would suggest getting it drivable as is, so you have a reference point. Some rust repair, put all the windows in, sunroof, fix the existing wiring(if it needs any), brakes, and get it running with a base engine (1500-1600cc). There are a few guys that have done the lowering thing and are going back because of ride/steering problems. On the other hand, Ken King @ Concept1 has done some amazing lowered builds that you can see on thesamba, mostly with bolt-on components. I do have a 67 titian red standard parts bus if you are looking for anything OG paint.
