El Troka, 65 single. Daily (Late spring - late fall) driver and hauler. Needs different paint. Dove blue eventually, though she was Velvet green from factory. 67 standard walk thru Has been a parts loaner for me, but have most of it to put back. Don't think I'll restore it, maybe part or move it on. Has some pretty good cancer. 58 panel 30K miles Mechanically excellent. Push started it at Concept1 in 98 when we picked it up from Ken for $1000. Barndoor door used to repair front cargo door. Outriggers? What outriggers?

Here's my '67 SO45 Westy. The old girl has been all over the world and landed in my garage in 2008. Picked it up from the Auto Compound after her journey from Quebec City, threw some new tires on her and took the family on a 800 mile road trip. Here's my September '59 Standard. Mr. Lee was the former steward of this beauty and passed it onto me last Fall. Both busses chillin' out in the driveway.

It barely counts but it officially made me a Split Bus owner. Went out to snag the pedal assembly for Fred and got a fresh winter pic.

Here is a not-so-flattering picture of my new acquisition. 1971 Single Cab. I bought this from my Boss. It was his Dad's truck and was a member of that family for many many years. Like any truck, it was used as a truck..it had many receipts from trips to the local land-fill under the seats. This truck has a nice running 1600dp ( factory reman ) and considering its hard life..quite a straight truck bed and set of gates. I know that it isn't a Split Bus... but I couldn't let it go to the scrap-yard. I paid $500 and Drove it home. I also used it as a truck and hauled the load of gravel that its parked on about 30km. It needs some attention to the outriggers and jack-points...and some repair panels for the wheel arches and dog-legs.... But it's not a bad bus for my investment. - DP

Hey Shane,
A driver will happen! Are you focused on a doublecab still? Hopefully the chopped up panel helps resurrect a few buses(including my 58 panel..... ;D).
And Doug, the single is a great truck! Even in semi-rotten shape, the utility value of of the load space far outweighs the price you payed. I was pleasently surprised with what I could do with mine as well, after driving my 64 standard for 9 years. (The standard was still good, but weather protected spaces sometimes collect junk for me ;D, and it became a driving shed.)

I have a question...
From the little bit of researching I've done on SC's... I've noticed that ( at least for the Fat Chicks )... the Treasure Chest door is always Opposite side of the Driver.
So, in my pic...you look at the passenger side...and voila...my treasure chest door.
But in the first pic by dmuis...his SC has the door on the Driver's Side.
Is this normal?? Or just a difference between Splits and Fats...

Hey Doug,
From what I understand, singles typically have the treasurechest door on the side opposite the driver. There was an option to add a second door on the drivers side as well, which is what mine has, making it a dual treasure chest truck. I have also heard that it was more common to have dual treasure chest doors on later production splits (63-67?) where as early splits were mostly delivered with one. With regards to bay windows, there was a 73 single for sale out in Lumsden? a few years ago that also had only one treasure chest door. Other than that, I haven't seen many to compare.

The focus is still to find a solid bullet DC, I'm pretty friggen picky and I have more than enough to keep me busy in the mean time, it'll happen when the Bus Gods say I'm ready. The 1/3 has already helped a couple deserving Buses, we'll get at that bulkhead once the weather warms up a little.

I appreciate the consideration on the towel bar! Me and Mango have developed a pretty good bond over the last while. People look at me pretty goofy when I say it but I'm a firm believer that these old chunks of steel have very distinct personalities.
