Not that I noticed, and no.

It had a set of decent shape euro deluxe bumpers inside which is pretty freakin cool. No middle seat and the only deluxe trim left was the strip across the back hatch. I didn't notice if it had a KMH speedo in it or not.

I'm all for saving buses, but this is a parts bus in my books. If it was a month or two earlier, I would say save it, but it's really nothing all that special. Sure, it's a body numbered high tail light 15, but that gets trumped by the rust and the mash - I really can't see it being worth the time and effort to ressurect it. It's good parts bus - some parts I'd like to have, but I really don't see it as a restoration candidate. That being said, anyone wants to take this on and get it back on the road, you have my admiration. I'll come over to your garage and swill beer with you and hand you tools and chant motivational mantra's, but damn, that's a big project!! Never thought to look if it was Km speedo

Looks like it's officially found a new owner. No, not me. ;D

I'll let the new owner chime in publicly if he chooses, sent you a pm though.

Bad etiquette on my part to call out the buyer (sorry bud) - just excited to see what the future holds for this old girl!

Everything looked typical in the photos until you get to the "money shot" Doh! That nose took quite a beating. After my daily excursions into the Split-Bus forums on The Samba, this bus is salvageable...but that and the '67 in Leth for $250 and you could patch most of it together. I'm glad to hear that it has found a new owner...I have my suspicions about who the new owner is...but I'll wait for the announcement here..or some word from a NUTS representative when the time comes. - DP

to the new owner: Please don't throw out any of the T3 parts off the engine. This is more activity on the forum in one day than the last 6 months

That is a parts bus.
I Knew about that one for more than 10 years. It used to be at a body shop not far from here, just off Glenmore. It was sitting beside a 54' beetle at one point. I used to stop in and ask about it, but always the same answer.
"Not for sale. We are going to restore it"
Fair enough. Last year at the High river show, the owner talked to me (I was driving my 57') and asked me if I had a roof for an old bus.... He told me there was an accident when someone in the storage lot was loading a pallet of pipe to a rack, and it fell on the roof.
I have to disagree with the "easy fix" diagnosis. That would be major surgery, and in combination with the rust, that is too far gone in my opinion. If someone wanted a fakie 23 window, it might not be too bad, but a huge amount of work.

I DARE the new owner to post it on the Samba forums and say they are gonna part it out. Be prepared to be brow beaten and demoralized ;D Either way, glad someone got it for resto project or even just parts. Either way it's a way better fate then ending up in a wrecker and getting crushed before it's full potential can be realized.

Does anyone know who came up from Lethbridge to see it? So Richard bought it. Not sure why though, for as long as I've known him he has never driven an aircooled. I have seen quite a few come and go but never actually used. More of a hunter/gatherer I guess.

You haven't known me that long Mark, nor that well. That was a little snarky and petty and non productive, and my feelings are hurt. If you really cared to know why I bought it, you could easily have called...you have my number. You could have even mentioned it when I called you today on the phone. ?

just stating what i know, not meant to offend.
I have never seen you drive an aircooled in the several years I have know you. I have heard many stories of former VW's.
I have seen you hunting far and wide for aircooled stuff.
Most of which you sell to other VW enthusiasts, so then a "hunter gatherer".
So what are you going to do with it?
my head was in a totally different space when i talked to you last night, It was full of non car related stuff.
later Mark
