My Riviera is a '67 as well. I'm able to drive comfortably all day long at 55- 60 mph (90 -100) on flat roads. She does prefer the 50ish mark though. It just seems right at that speed.

eric, your westy is a 67, isit? If so, you have big nut RGB's, likely with a 0.82 fourth gear and 1.26:1 RGB. Depending on your tire height, you should be able to do about 100kph at about 3500 RPM. You should be able to cruise that animal at 100 -105 with no trouble. The Mango has a big nut transaxle as well, so my gearing will likely be the same as yours. I plan to drive about 100 on the flats and significantly less on the hills ;D at higher speeds to do you get a howling sound? when I push above 90 km/h it starts singing.

I saw you had started work on the Honeyboy. This will give you something to shoot for.
Make it happen Brother!

I just saw pictures of "honeyboy" and it looked oddly familiar. Where abouts in Southern Sask did you find it?

I got the Honeyboy panel at an estate auction just north of Swift Current outside of a little town called Kyle. Chris and I nabed it last fall.

It's quite likely that I've seen that bus some 20+ years ago. I grew up in M. Hat and spent a bunch of time in and around that area visiting family.

This still happening Riffraff? I have a tonne of work ahead of me so if I'm going to make this AWESOME trip I need to streamline my work on the 15. Who am I kidding, I need to put on the thermals and start working on it right now if I'm going to make Das Volks this year. Yes I would like to travel East this summer in lieu of the GC. Time will tell. I'm going outside now.... ;D

Oh yeah, we're still a go. The closer it gets, the more i'm diggin on it. I still have the end of February in my sights for a test drive of Mango. After that, working the bugs out and I hope for it to "finished" for April. We have a CVD campout scheduled for june, so that will be a bit of a shakedown. I have a Z Bed for mango, a Coleman stove and a cooler - that's the extent of my "camper"- so this will be a low tech affair ;D Get busy on the 15 and make it happen! I'd much rather cruise and camp with you than just visit. It will be a good shakedown for das Volks run!
Looks like Eric and Shane may be up for it as well.

I would still love to come out even if not in a Split, the only problem is that TBA3 is due end of July / early August so we'll have to play it by ear.

So? Is there a plan?

Kinda I need to get an OOP done on Mango. We have a CVD bus camp out planned for June, so that will be the shakedown for camping. Plan is to head out from here on or about July 22 or so and spend a week toodling the backroads of southern BC. Eric may come along as well as Shane. Salmon Arm would be the furthest west point, then we'd about face and toodle back.
What are the chances you'll have a running driving bus by then??

I'm working on drivetrain right now. That's why I haven't updated recently. Ran into a snag with the suspension but I'm getting it sorted.... I think
