I know Keith will have something to say about it but I'm thinking more and more that an early bay DC would be the way to go. Shane Alright, no more Mr Nice Guy. You tried to go the bay route and found that it left you ..... wanting. Now, lets not repeat our same mistakes over again and hope for a different result, shall we?. If a split DC is what you want (Repeat after me -"A split DC is what I want"), then hold out for a split DC. Keep an eye out, alert everyone else to keep an eye out, and shuffle your vehicles so that when one comes available you have the means to pounce and it will happen. I have a good truck for hauling and Fred has a good trailer for towing, so we can fetch you a SPLIT DC from a 15 hour radius or so.

That there is Blasphemy. You just go find yourself a SPLIT doublecab and let the rest of the NUTS gang help you get it home. If a pitstop location is needed out this way I have TONNES of room and a Double Cab would be nothing new in my yard. (( I may have to sleep in it when my wife sees it coming up the driveway though. THAT'S JUST A HIT I'D BE WILLING TO TAKE )) ;D

A split DC is what I want, yes sir! Of course it is I just over-think things, and money issues have been weighing on my mind lately. To be totally honest I've even put a wanted ad in a rural classifieds flyer to try and flush one out of a farmers field somewhere. I already know which one of the toys will need to go, my eyes were bigger than my wallet when I bought the convertible but I need to get it finished up before I can sell. Plus I'm hoping that with the funds from a sale I will be able to pick up a nice DC and have enough left over to get a good jump on the restoration of the '57. But until I can find me a split I'm going to enjoy what I've got! Thanks Keith! I knew you'd be there to kick my ass when I needed it. And thanks for the offer Mowser, if need be you'll get a call! Shane

I did see that, I'm just not sure what to think of it at the moment. Now that I've re-read the ad it doesn't appear to be as bad as I had originally thought, and he is looking for pre-'67 Ghia convertible trades... If it wasn't in Texas I would likely be more interested (nothing against Texas, just too far away). Honestly my budget right now is on the small side, paying for a 36hp rebuild, Kombi not selling, etc. I'll be in a much better position come the new year (the only reason I stay at my job is for the Christmas bonus).

I'm still keeping an eye on this one, but since we're coming up to one year since the ad was placed I doubt there is a deal to be had. www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=519798He's also got a '63 that's sounds as good or better (except the gates are rusty) for $13k Speaking of which has anybody been paying attention to the exchange rate? I just orderd a heaterbox repair kit for the 36hp and $92 US cost me $110 CDN! Granted it was through PayPal so I know they take a couple extra points but holy crap.

Oh I've seen that one too, this is all I have to say about it... Thanks for trying though! Like I've said before there's no rush, I'm very much willing to wait for the right one to come along.

Opinions? www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=685051I know it's wrong but there's something about the walk-thru I like (I've actually been keeping my eyes on this one for awhile, he mentioned maybe selling it a few months back), it seems to be really solid and have some cool accessories but it sure is ugly. Especially for $18k CDN.

That truck is dope. It's strange what things grab a guy. I've never been a fan of walk thru buses, always prefered crawl overs, but that walk thru section is the DC is tits. It's a bullet DC with all the important parts intact. The guy who's selling it has a name on TS, so he would not pawn off a POS. Tell him he can sell all the superfluous stuff on the side and offer him $10K US. I'll fly down with you to drive it back

not to mention the way our dollar is going in the toilet recently. It's odd as I love the walk through model. I suppose it's just what you are used to. It's no 15 window but we all have our dreams. Just kidding I still miss the DC I had and wish I'd never gotten rid of it.

The problem with Thom's DC is that I love all the accessories! Even the hitch, I've often day-dreamed of using a DC to tow a small trailer for camping (since the wife isn't too hot on sleeping in a bus for some reason). Maybe he'll want the convertible? ;D

It's funny you mention that as that's what I was wanting to do with my Double Cab. I was going to restore an old Boler to pull behind it. Least that was the plan......

Fook! www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=692335Funny thing is I was just going to post this morning how I have to postpone my search and then cracker puts this one up. So angry! With one vehicle an hour away in storage, the other in a thousand pieces and my wife starting a home business I'm really not in a position to move right now. Maybe just pray it's still there in another 4 or 5 months... If it's as solid as he says I would say this is a better deal than Thom's DC.
