In the back of my mind I always wanted one, but they seem to be pretty expensive when they do come up for sale so it's been lower on the list for me. But then I saw a really nice one at the Air Rider's swap the other weekend and the wheels started turning again.
Here's the deal, if you have or know of a good DC that may be for sale let me know. No major projects please, I want something road ready or very close to. I would be willing at this point to include the Kombi and (gasp!) one of my Ghia's as trade for the right bus.
I'm just throwing it out there, I'm not actively looking at this point but am keeping my eyes open, let's see what happens.

If I'm giving up a Ghia it would have to be a split and a solid one at that. I might consider a baywindow.
Tim, I only see two ways to settle this, we can either race early baywindows or 36hp Ghias. Choose your weapon, winner gets the DC. ;D I have no expectations it will happen soon but I think as far as a family toy goes this is the best way to go for us.

I'm really starting to think that the magic number is 4. It seems to be the proper amount of VW's to span various years, types, and body styles. Of course, 4 would be a minimum. ;D
Shane, give me a little time. I may have the perfect DC for you. I just have to get out to see it first. I plan on posting it here if it's worth it.

you won't want that one. All of his stuff is major restoration quality. He likes to buy them as cheap as possible so lots of rust and work.

From browsing some of his other ads it's apparent that he likes to pull vehicles from Washington to sell up here. The body actually doesn't look that bad, what's putting me off is all the missing parts. Shane

Here is another that looks to be a bit better. It looks quite original, and it's only $6500: '65 Double CabDustin

That one has been repaired after something fell on the roof so I'm waiting on better pictures.
We'll see how things pan out but I'm more than willing to hold out for a nice orginal bus, I'm getting pretty tired of dealing with other peoples bondo...

Yes, Shane, you need a DC. Nothing but boring old buses in this city. We need a DC and a couple of SC's to cruise around with.
Hey d-cup, is the guy selling those rusty buses the same guy that had a rusty Binz for sale a while ago?

Boring old buses, HA! I just look forward to hauling the kids and hauling junk in style, it's going to work for sure.
Ross still has the Binz (or "a" Binz anyway), I think he may have tried to sell it awhile back. He also has three early Ghias and may be helping me out with a couple small items so making contact sure didn't hurt. Anyway, I do have more pictures of the '63 if anyone else is interested.

he has a Binz but i wouldn't think he would sell it. He has a lot of old Datsun Roadsters and a few VW's. He only buys what he can get really cheap so that means it will have loads of rust. He has a restoration shop in Cloverdale. He has been doing Datsun resto's for a long time.
