very nice combo Ken, you must be chompin' at the bit to see it in person. I still need to figure out what I want to do with the front panels on my Riviera. I just hate the stock board look. Thanks for the pictures, now I want to spend more money...

I was at Mission yesterday and when I poked my head in the shop looking for Mark I saw Rosie hiding in the corner. She's looking good, I can't wait to see the paint!

Sunday June 3, Day 260. I really thought I'd be on final assembly by now, but I still don't have the body back from Mark. Not a huge surprise, as my bodywork was maybe not as good as he was expecting, and it's taken him a bit longer. Not a big deal, I've been busy building the transaxle, front end, and lots of little things. I've mocked up the engine (76mmX90.5mm 1956cc) and the rotating parts are out at the balancer's. I have the engine mocked up just to fit the tin before it goes for powder coating as well. Almost all of the chrome and trim is done (polished or plated) and the handles and ignition have all been rechromed and rekeyed to match. The upholstery is here, and the seat frames are all repaired and off getting powder coated black. Should have those back soon, and I can then finish them up before the bus gets back. Anyway here is a batch of photos from the last few months of building... In progress. Engine tin mock up one of the seat grab bars The wiper motor before And after... now converted to 12 volts and tested. ...And here's Rosie.

Ken thanks for sharing it looks like it’s coming along nicely.
I see your using shock waves on the front beam, is that what you used on the front of single cab too?

Thanks for the updated Ken. The gearbox and suspension are looking great. The bodywork looks just about ready for paint.
Everyone's projects seem to be getting soooooo close...
I can hardly wait to see the final paint and re-assembly.

p.s. The dude from Saskatoon was totally impressed by the beetle decklid and louvers I brought home with me.

I'm actually going to try to have her roadworthy or at least very close by the 26th of this month. A special someone is coming for the summer, and I want to introduce her to the "new" Rosie. I realize that this is a very limited time frame, and may be impossible, but not trying at this point would be very lame. My initial goal at the beginning of this project was to finish-beginning to end - in less than a year. I think I might do a bit better.... That pic was from last night out at Marks. I went out this morning at 7 to help him get it off the rotisserie and ended up spending several hours sanding with him. He had only sprayed the lower color last night, the upper body and interior color should be on today!!!! So I've got 14 days.....

I forgot to mention that I have to consider myself the luckiest guy in the world, as I have an awesome group of friends who always seem willing to lend a hand whenever a challenge like this one comes up. There will be a lot of late nights at the shop. I'll try to post up some shots of all the people who lend a hand.
