I hope Chris didn't take my comments as being impatient, I'm just excited to hear that progress is being made. I do look forward to seeing how things come together, and I have no doubt that they will be beautiful ;D.

The new tubing bender arrived today(via the brown devil ) Of course one package is missing. It should arrive tomorrow and I can get it set up!! Looks like I'll be in the rack business soon. The tube is stacked in the shop and ready to go. I just have to get the clamps made up at the stainless shop. On a side note: I'll have a bus tow bar (collapsible) available for sale next week. 2 inch ball, zinc plated hitch, and grade 8 hardware (class II). It can be taken apart for storage. Only one available for now. $250.00 plus shipping. Let me now if anyone wants it. I can ship greyhound just about anywhere for about $25.00. Chris

I was actually thinking of grabbing one of the collapsable units from The Samba, but it would have been insanely expensive with shipping and everything. I won't need one right away (I'd need to have the front end together for it to be usefull) if it's something you will make more of I may have to grab one with my rack(s). Shane

Just a quick update on the racks. I recieved the last part of the bender set-up and I just have to finish the stand. I'll be running the first prototype at the end of next week.
The first rack will be a full length commercial style for the kombi. I have a single cab roof section to template for that style and I'll probably build a 3/4 commercial as well.
I have plans for ghia and beetle racks in the future, but have to wait until it warms up and I can borrow DP's ghia for measurements.
I'll have to sell a couple before I can order the square tube dies for westy racks. So, all you commercial owners order a rack so we can get going on some for our "deluxe" friends!
Pics and pricing soon.

No worries! Sometimes it feels good to shout it out! ;D Too bad the racks will be more than an hours drive for me. But the "Made in Canada" part is awesome! Kudos to you Chris for keeping this stuff on the home front.

OK so I've done all the price research I can. I've compared new repros to used OG racks, etc. etc.. Quality is the main focus here and I think the final product will be superior to anything available now.
Also, I've decided to offer these racks in primer only for the first few runs. I can powdercoat or paint, in just about any colour, but I'll have to do that on a piece by piece bases for now.
The prices are as follows:
full length commercial -$1200.00
3/4 commercial -$900.00
1/2 commercial and DC -$800.00
single cab -$675.00
1/2 westy w/woodslat -$1200.00(square tube)
ladders (rack or drip rail mount) -$225.00
Please understand that there may be some price adjustments as I go. Also, for you Alberta folks, if we can get a couple orders together I'll deliver them for free on my next trip.
I'm looking for feedback on this pricing and I realize that without a sample it's a little difficult. I'll get some pics together ASAP.
Let me know what you think. Thanks!
Chris

What type of wood will you use on the westy style and will it be pre-finished?
