I have tons of drivetrain stuff for Barndoor all the way to 67. Really let me know what you need. This is not a commercial post for my business, just stuff I have laying around in my yard/shop that I'd like to see go to a good home, and I'll be super fair with you on the pricing. -54' 36 HP engine, mostly complete, definately will need a rebuild-but it is not seized. -54' complete front axle drum to drum. Parts or whole. -54' Rear end. Not just the tranny, but the whole rear end cut out of a bus, Frame-spring plates, everything.... Even the lever shocks. -Dozens of 36 HP engines, from cases to completes- let me know what year you need. -Same for Transmissions dozens from complete split case- to big nut boxes. Lot of this stuff, and it's just sitting around -Doors- Lots of icepick handle doors (-62) even 4 with the small handle recess for Barndoor. 2 nice cargo doors for a panel (high hinge). No later (after 63') at all. -Barndoor decklid. 4- single cab side gates, all useable and nice, 1 tailgate. -Rear hatch for a pre 63 Kombi or panel. -Tons of door tops, glass, etc. -Rear lower corners from a 60' panel, not rusted, but need some therapy (FREE!!) you pay the shipping, or pick them up, I just can't throw them out. Battery tray is solid. both sides available. If you have any interest on this stuff let me know and I'll send you some pics and well figure out a price. I have way more in my ridiculous collection, please feel free to ask. Always willing to trade, so let me know. Ken King

I have all of that . The only thing that would be a bit spendy is the early pressed bumper. I have 3 at the moment and 2 are spoken for. On a funny side note I took a load of bumpers to the plating shop monday to be straightened...And I realized I might have a bus addiction..... there were 12 (twelve) bumpers in total..... 9 of them were of the pressed variety. Do you need a rear bumper too? The glass you are looking for is with the larger Sekurit logo (but not the BD logo) right? Ken

Have any BD tailights for me buddy? You can just sell me the ones off your '53... right? So now that my bumper is straight, I should probably pay you for it. Trevor

Trev,
Sorry bud, no BD tails.... I haven't even seen the ones for my truck yet. Dave said they were there, but the truck also came with about 200 boxes of parts.....
Shan, I've got some brackets for you. $10/ea? sound fair. I've also got a few nice correct front bumpers for that if you need.

Shan, Yeah here at the shop... I'll get them ready for you whenever you want.
Keith, I've got a pretty good rear bumper, but it had pea shooters cut into it at one point.....I have some aprons, is yours a 59' or 60' (crank hole or non-crank)?. Also pretty sure I have a radio block off for you.
Bretto, What year is the bus you are working on?

I keep staring at the "dozens of 36hp engines" and would like to talk to you about them (am I going to get kicked off because it's for a Type 1? ;D).
Oh, and don't forget about the 15" bus wheels...
You have pm!

Thanks Ken I can weld up the holes without much grief. As far as whether it is 59 or 60, that is up for debate depending on which charts are considered correct. It is a Sept 1 59 build, so it is probably a 60 model year. Was the end of the crank start apron coincidental with the end of the 36 horse? If so, I think the VIN suggests this one would have come with a bastard 40 horse. On a related note, do you still need the shift rod from the 58 ?

The dates I have seen suggest the "bastard" 40 ran from March '58 to June '60. I don't believe they ever came with a crank start set-up. However, VW did realise the error in their ways and immediately started to issue updates and repairs for the relocated main bearing.
